
The Friends of the Pella Public Library is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization created to:Help generate financial support for the improvement of the library
Increase the interest in and use of the library and its services
Promote knowledge of the functions, resources, services, and needs of the library
Provide, when available, volunteers to assist with library projects

The Friends of the Pella Public Library is a charitable organization founded in 1989 to help support the Mission of the Pella Public Library and to promote interest in and use of its services and resources. Through a variety of fundraisers our all-volunteer organization supports ongoing literacy and cultural programs, subscriptions to electronic media, one-time equipment purchases, Adventure Passes, the Summer Library Program, aviary maintenance, and much more!
Participation in the Friends of the Pella Public Library is open to all persons who support the work of the Library. The Friends operate an ongoing book sale in the Book Nook. In addition, larger sales are held in April, July and October. Donations are always welcome and can be dropped off at the Library Circulation Desk. Please see our donation guidelines (PDF) for more information about the kinds of materials we accept.

The Friends of the Library Board has eight elected officers consisting of volunteers who are committed to supporting the work and mission of the Pella Public Library. In addition, the library director serves as an advisor and a non-voting member. The Board of the Friends of the Library generally meets on the 3rd Tuesday of the month at 1 p.m. at the Library. Board members can be elected to two consecutive two-year terms but cannot serve more than two consecutive terms. The Friends of the Pella Public Library operate on a fiscal year starting April 1 and ending March 31.
